New clinic will serve low-income families and individuals
Gilroy – Gardner South County Health Center will open its new downtown Gilroy facility Oct. 2. The facility will have the capacity to treat nearly 10,000 patients annually more than triple the amount at its former Sixth Street site.
The new downtown center, which features a patio garden, boasts 10 medical examination and six dental operation rooms, plus an obstetrics and gynecology clinic. The clinic will also provide education, nutrition and counseling services for all patients.
Gardner is considered a “safety net” health care provider, serving the low-income, Hispanic population. Patients are either uninsured or receive benefits through a public insurance provider. Its mission is to provide high quality behavioral, social and primary care to poor and disenfranchised individuals.
The clinic will work in conjunction with Saint Louise Regional Hospital and the Santa Clara Valley Health and Hospital system to provide care when needed.
Established more than 30 years ago in the San Jose area, Gardner is affiliated with the following nonprofit community-based organizations: Gardner Family Health Network, which provides dental, physical and optometry services and Gardner Family Care Corporation, which provides mental care, drug and alcohol recovery services and a nutrition program for Women, Infants and Children.
Gardner provides services to patients throughout Santa Clara County at its seven sites. The clinic is located at 7526 Monterey St.
