Dear Editor:

I am part of the Republican roots of insensitivity. Dennis Taylor writing in his Jan. 29 weekly column criticizes Republicans as being insensitive to racial Equality mainly because of their so-called lack of support of civil rights.

Funny, I have heard lots and lot about civil rights, but little or nothing about civil responsibilities. There are no rights without responsibility! There is an accurate saying “when all are equal, none are free, and when all are free, none are equal.” And this is fundamental!

The tragedy of today is that so-called rights are based upon the color of the skin and not upon one’s cultural morals and ethics. One would do well to review and inform oneself of the difference in the cultural history of the white northern European (western civilization) people and that of the African blacks over the past 2,000 years. To the white man goes credit for Christianity (love your neighbor as thyself), the industrial revolution (freeing man from grubbing from sunrise to sunset just to feed himself) and the scientific revolution, revealing the natural laws such as gravity, atomic energy, and bacteria as a source of infection.

I’d be remiss if I did not also mention western civilization’s (Whitey) skill and ingenuity at creating instruments of self-destruction-Christianity’s dark side. Note how World War I started with the use of swords (1914) and ended up in 1918 with the machine gun. World War II opened with the Old French 75’s cannon and ended in 1945 with missiles and the atomic bomb. The west was and is truly a master at self-mayhem.

I’m all for civil rights, but I want them tied to civil responsibilities. I also want those championing civil rights (such as Dennis Taylor) to recognized the difference between good, better and the best. When you intrude a third-world culture into a first-world culture, you will be lucky if don’t end up with two third-world cultures.

The fundamental difference in world cultures is the Judeo-Christian religion, only those ignorant of history will doubt this.

Remember, with rights goes responsibility, otherwise chaos reigns!
