Dear Editor:
Tom Mulhern’s recent column waxed admirably so about reasons for
our appreciating life here in South County. As a 20-year resident I
cannot disagree.
Dear Editor:

Unfortunately, Santa Teresa Boulevard is turning into a raceway through San Martin. Occasionally I see the CHP and the Sheriff Department patrolling the route, for which I am very grateful. One cannot believe the insanity of the commuters racing through our area at highly excessive speeds and passing in no passing zones.
BUT, the title of Tom’s column “Roots of racial insensitivity in the Republican party” neither represents his column nor the Republican party. Oops? Typo?
As we all know, Democrats, especially those of the Liberal left-leaning bent, use racial epithets to spin real situations. Liberals and low-end democrats use race as a weapon. True Republicans recognize race diversity in our real world and its needs. Insensitivity? What political party brought emancipation and anti-slavery to the USA? Republicans. Abraham Lincoln was not a Democrat — “Dixie-crats” were. Gimmee a break. Democrats use the ‘minority” situation as a tool. Republicans seek a sensible balance bereft of skin color.
Given the simple misplacement of a column’s title, one can yawn. Given an inflammatory title, associated or not, one cannot remain silent.

EDITOR’S NOTE: The headline did not reflect the column. It was inadvertently left on from a previous column. Our apologies for the mistake.
