DEAR EDITOR:

On Aug. 11, 2002 our world was suddenly turned upside down. We received word that our dearest son, our only son, Dan, had suddenly passed away. This was the worst possible news that anyone would want to hear.

With the support of our family, friends, church family, neighbors, and others in the community, we struggled with the pain. With broken hearts we went to many grief counseling sessions. The sessions helped some, but we felt we needed more.

We found out about a wonderful organization through the Habing Family Funeral Home. It is called “The Compassionate Friends.” We thought your readers would like to know about this organization.

This is a self-help support organization which aids bereaved families who have experienced the death of a child from any cause, at any age. There aren’t any fees involved.

They have a monthly newsletter and also monthly meetings. We have attended some of the meetings. The support of others who have lost children seems to be what we need. They know exactly what we are going through and how we feel.

If any of your readers would be interested or would like more information about the Compassion Friends, the Web address is www.compassionfriends.org.

If we can be of help to anyone, feel free to e-mail us at RL********@*ol.com
