GILROY – The Red Dogz maintained a one-game lead in the Men’s C League first-half pennant chase Friday with a 16-8 victory over Dee’s Nuts at Las Animas Park.

Everett Wallace and Carlos Naranjo hit home runs in a four-run third inning to give Red Dogz a 6-5 lead. Carlos Diaz went 3-for-4 and scored four runs for the 4-0 winners. Rick Gonzalez scored three Dee’s Nuts runs.

The Kenko Pipelayers remained in second place at 3-1 with a 21-4 nod over AAA Courier Poor Boys. Kevin Orosco hit four home runs in as many at-bats and Brock Prather added two round-trippers. Luke Corona singled and doubled, scoring twice for AAA Poor Boys.

Interstate Fence is 2-2 after an 18-13 decision over Humboldt Brewing. Willie Gamboa Jr. cracked a triple and three singles, scoring three Interstate runs. Tony Maquinalez hit three Fence doubles. Dave Keim Jr. and Al Roybal each went 4-for-4 for Humboldt Brewing.

Puzzle Systems moved to 4-0 atop the Men’s D League with a 15-10 verdict over Me & Julio in Friday’s battle of unbeatens at Gavilan Sports Park.

Joey Barnes hit a home run and two singles for the Puzzles. Frank Reyes homered and Duke Newton and John Serrine each mustered three hits and scored three runs for Me & Julio.

Anthony Martinez and Moses Caballero hit consecutive homers in the first inning to lead Team HJ-FX past Blackout Window Tinting 24-21. George Smith, Skip Bloom and Tom Alexander added HJ-FX homers. Danny Rubio hit two homers, Eddie Adame one for Blackout.

Terry Wills capped a four-run seventh inning with a two-out, two-run single to lead Family Affair past Machinist Cooperative 10-9. Gosta Brolin went 4-for-5 and Jose Romero homered for Machinist.

VFW Bingo handed first-half Men’s EE League champion Solid Ground a 14-13 setback Thursday at Las Animas. George Ocampo drove in five VFW Bingo runs with a pair of homers and sacrifice fly. Ray Hansell plated four Bingo runs. Cary O’Neal went 4-for-4 for the 5-1 Ground.

Jeryr Johnston hit two homers and John Ceballos went 3-for-3 to lead Radiator Doctor by HMI 14-10. Dave Zamzow went 4-for-5 for HMI.

Dave Del Villar lined a homer and triple, Dave Steffenson a homer and two doubles, as South Valley Newspapers climbed to 2-4 with a 20-9 victory over Associated Concrete. Mmark Derry went 3-for-3 for the winners. Al Orosco went 2-for-4 and drove in two Associated Concrete runs.

Pray For Rain powered past J. R. Brewski’s 21-13 Thursday at Gavilan to leave both teams at 5-1 atop the Men’s E League. St. Mary Men’s Club also hit 5-1 with a 16-9 win over Ozzie’s Oddballs.

Pray For Rain will play St. Mary Men’s Club Thursday at 7:30 p.m. at Christmas Hill Park. The winner will play at 8:40 p.m. against J.R. Brewski’s for the first-half title.

Ray Garcia went 4-for-4 for the Rain, while Garrett Bennett homered in a 4-for-4 night for the Brew Crew.

Bob Filice keyed the St. Mary Men’s Club offense with a 4-for-4 effort. Joe Barboa homered for Ozzie’s.

Johnny Ramirez hit for the cycle to key a 25-14 Titans win over the Good Ole Boys. Paul Rodriguez and Ryan Romero (4-for-4) added Titan homers. Todd Whitmire homered and Jeff Speno scored three runs for the Good Ole Boys.
