Menu set for international buffet benefitting sister city partnerships

Gilroy – The Gilroy Sister Cities Association is hosting an International Buffet Dinner and Auction this Saturday night to benefit sister city partnerships.

The dinner will feature full meals highlighting the best fare Gilroy and her sister cities have to offer, including Garlic pot roast from Gilroy; chile verde and Mexican rice from Tecate, Mexico; linguica and Portuguese beans from Angra do Heroísmo, Portugal; coq au vin and roasted potatoes with garlic and onion from Saint Clar, France; two kinds of pasta and green salad from Monticelli d’Ongina, Italy; chicken teriyaki and sushi from Takko-Machi, Japan; and fish marinated with coconut milk and sticky rice from Koror, Palau. Of course, dessert will be included, too: apple pie, flan, sweet rice, tart tatin, tiramisu, Yokan and tapioca.

Tickets to the event, which will be held at 7pm Saturday, Feb. 19, at the Portuguese Hall at 250 Old Gilroy Street, can be purchased for $25 at Pinheiro Insurance Agency, 190 First St., 842-4619.
