Dear Editor:

On behalf of several of us here in Gilroy, I want to commend the POSITIVE ENERGY of so many Gilroy High School students that made the annual Homecoming Parade just wonderful. One little 2-year-old girl let her mother know that she clearly enjoyed the bunny float!

The bunny was but just one of the lovely floats that the students spent over 40 hours creating. Folding 10,000 paper flowers, and creating the floats brought together the students of each class in the spirit of teamwork. Many of us were totally impressed. Thank you to all the students for their positive energy, for the families that helped out with trailers, food, and many of the essentials to support our young adults. Big thanks for Mr. Jack Daley, activities director, who tirelessly supports our young adults to do their very best. And, thanks to all the GHS staff and GHS administrators that support this “Gilroy tradition.”

And also, thank you to The Dispatch for coverage – especially the reporting by Lori Stuenkel – and the photos.

Alice Dufresne Reyes, Gilroy
