Nakamura died Friday, Oct. 3, in Watsonville at the age of
85.
Tadao “TOD” Nakamura died Friday, Oct. 3, in Watsonville at the age of 85.

Mr. Nakamura, native to San Juan Bautista, lived in the Monterey Bay area for the past 59 years. He was a member of the Watsonville Buddhist Temple. He was a row crop farmer for more than 40 years; his love of tending and watching life grow gave him strength and earned him loyalty and respect from all he touched. Mr. Nakamura enjoyed doing woodworking, going to Reno and the Indian Casinos and most of all spending time with his family. Mr. Nakamura also loved to cook for his family, especially his “Depression Potatoes” and lemon meringue pie.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Ruby, of Moss Landing; his three sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Kathy Nakamura, of Moss Landing, Matthew and Tina Nakamura, also of Moss Landing, and Charles and Janell Nakamura, of Salinas. Mr. Nakamura is also survived by his two daughters and sons-in-law; Diane and Doug Hayashi, of Salinas, June and Jim Cornelius, also of Salinas, his three sisters; Akay Murakoshi, of Monterey, Kay Shiraki, of Salinas, and Asano Ogawa, of Watsonville, as well as 15 grandchildren and 10

great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held at the Watsonville Buddhist Temple on Friday, at 10 a.m. Inurnment will take place at Pajaro Valley Memorial Park. Mehl’s Colonial Chapel is in charge of funeral arrangements. In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions be made to their home at 724-6068.
