Christopher “Chris” R. Diaz, age 47, passed away in Gilroy on March 17, 2003.
He is survived by his father, Robert Diaz of Gilroy; his daughter, Christina Diaz of Henderson, Nev.; his siblings and their spouses, Terry and Craig Godwin of Auburn, David Diaz and Olivia Subia of Gilroy and Gary Diaz of Gilroy. He is also survived by his granddaughters, Danielle Pollerama, Danae and Dalyn Caspary of Henderson; nieces and nephews, Jim Gamino, Jaymie Gamino, Garron Diaz of Gilroy and Veronica Diaz of Hollister and Jason Gamino USMC, Camp Pendleton; great niece, Kaila Villarreal of Gilroy; aunts and uncles, Benny Diaz of Los Banos, Erma and Chris Sosa of Gilroy, Irene Perez of Gilroy, Henry and Rachel Diaz of Gilroy, Leonard and Annette Diaz of Bullhead City, Ariz., Alfred Diaz of Gilroy, Edwin and Barbara Diaz of Gilroy, Arlene and Tom Lujan of Gilroy, Sylvia and Carlos Guajardo of Gilroy, Geri Guerriero of Gilroy. Chris is survived by many cousins.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Teresa Diaz.
A native of Gilroy, he was raised in La Puente, graduated from Bassett High School and moved back to Gilroy when he was 18. He was both a 49er fan and a Giants fan and enjoyed golfing and bowling. He was a wonderful uncle to all of his nieces and nephews.
He was a member of the American Legion Post 217.
Family and Friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass, which will be held on Saturday at 2 p.m. at St. Mary’s Church, Gilroy. Arrangements are under direction of Habing Family Funeral Home, Gilroy.
