MONTEREY – The Gilroy High softball squad suffered its second straight loss Tuesday – falling to Monterey on the road, 4-0.
The Lady Mustangs (0-2 in pre-season) are still awaiting the arrival of ace pitcher Jennifer Olvera – who just finished up her basketball season last night.
Freshman Sarah Villar took the mound in Olvera’s absence – giving up three runs in the first and one run in the fourth on nine hits.
Gilroy’s Dallas Hernandez went 2-for-3 at the plate – but the Lady Mustangs could not get on the scoreboard, finishing with only five hits.
The Lady Mustangs and Olvera will be on the Gilroy High diamond Thursday at 3:30 p.m. to take on Oak Grove.
