Ronald Eugene Brock of Morgan Hill died Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2003 after a valiant battle with heart disease at San Francisco Kaiser.

Mr. Brock was born in Salinas on April 21, 1937, then moved to Gilroy, Cupertino, Oregon, and finally Morgan Hill where he lived for 50 years. He was a graduate of Live Oak High School where he was an all-around athlete. In track and field he ran a four-minute-36-second mile. He played on Live Oak’s first football team and as team captain starred in basketball.

He caught the eye of Live Oak’s Homecoming Queen, Jeanette Brown, and they fell in love. They graduated together in 1956 and married in 1958. He attended Hartnell Junior College in 1957, apprenticed as a butcher and then began his 33 year career with Lockheed Missiles and Space in Sunnyvale. He was awarded many commendations for his work, promoted to numerous positions and was proud to have worked on the Hubble Space Telescope. He was a program systems analyst during his final years before retirement in 1993.

Mr. Brock was an active member at Family First Baptist Church in Morgan Hill. His favorite scripture verse was John 3:16 which states:

“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”

He loved his family, and he loved the outdoors. Hunting and fishing were his favorite pastimes. The Live Oak Acorns, San Francisco Giants and the San Francisco 49ers were his favorite teams.

Ron Brock is survived by his loving wife, Jeanette; his children, Cheryl Dawn of San Jose, Karen Green of Auburn, David Brock of North Highlands and Shelley Thomas of Morgan Hill; his grandchildren, Heather and Aaron Dawn, Andrew and Kathryn Green, Luke, Josh and Lindsey Brock, and the newest addition, Kaitlyn Thomas. He is also survived by his siblings, Thelma Ricks of Paradise, Ken Brock of Morgan Hill, Carol Brandt of Westwood, and Delman Brock of Paradise.

A memorial service will be held for Ron at Family First Baptist Church, 305 W. Main in Morgan Hill on Saturday, Jan. 25 at 11 a.m. A Fellowship meal will follow the service.
