Dear Editor:
Our national parks are windows to the past, protecting and preserving stories of the people and events that shaped our country.
A new State of the Parks report by the National Parks Conservation Association highlights problems facing Little Bighorn Battlefield National Monument in Montana that threaten the museum collections and archives that the park was created to protect.
Without help from our elected officials, our shared history will vanish. Congress must make national park protection a priority in the upcoming budget or risk the loss of historical treasures within our national parks, such as those at Little Bighorn.
Insufficient funding threatens this important part of American history.
