The agenda will cover volunteer help for the move into the site, the welcome barbecue scheduled for Aug. 21, the Opening Day Cornerstone Ceremony scheduled for Sept. 16 and donating Garlic Festival hours to the school. Rome will fall at GHS
GILROY – Sixteen local teenagers will perform in “Romulus” a farce about the fall of the Roman Empire by Gore Vidal this Thursday, Friday and Saturday, July 24, 25 and 26, at 8 p.m. in the Gilroy High School Theater. Join in the blood drive

Garlic Festival party keeps going
GILROY – The Historic Strand Theater hosts national and local talent Garlic Festival weekend to keep the party going after the park closes.
On Friday, July 25, several members of local favorite Suave will play with recording artists Mystique. Their distinctive brand of Latin jazz/rock is popular throughout the South Bay and Santa Cruz areas. Jorge Santana, brother of multi-platinum recording artist Carlos Santana and a former member of the band Santana, joins Suave. The show starts at 9 p.m. and costs $25.
On Saturday, July 26, The Austin Lounge Lizards will bring their tongue-in-cheek brand of hilarious country/bluegrass satire. The Cowlicks, an “alt-country California style” band will perform after the Lizards. The show starts at 7:30 p.m. Tickets cost $16 in advance, $18 at the door.
On Sunday, July 27, Gilroy’s own Juz-Cuz will bring their funk, dance and R&B sounds at 7 p.m. for a free performance. Details: Christine Brooks, 846-8455.
Customer service training
GILROY – There will be a free training seminar on Wednesday, July 30 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Gavilan College Small Business Development Center, 8351 Church St., Building E. Participants will learn why customer service skills are so important, keys to high quality service, the 10 deadly “sins” of customer service, tools for dealing with challenging customers, good customer service strategies and much more. Free classes in citizenship and English
GILROY – The Gilroy Citizenship/Educational Programs is presenting a course on Citizenship and English as a second language at the Monticelli Apartments, 841 Monticelli Drive.
The classes are held Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. ESL classes are also offered at the Family Resource Center located at 8833 Monterey Road on Tuesday and Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. Additional citizenship classes are given at that site on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m.
This is a 12-week course that can be extended according to the students’ needs. All classes are free and open to all persons residing in South Santa Clara County. Details: Luz Avila, 846-5017.
Taste pasta, sauce and wine
MORGAN HILL – Learn about pasta, including which Italian regions use each type, which sauces go best with certain cuts of pasta and much more at a Guglielmo Winery food education series workshop on Thursday, July 24, at 7:30 p.m.
Noted cookbook author Charles Bellissino will give an informative talk about pasta sauce complete with pasta and wine samples. Bellissino will also sign his cookbooks which will be available for purchase.
