Dear editor:

In response to a letter published Thursday (no need to mention names), I wanted to say that sir, you are so far from the truth of the matters of this war that it’s actually pretty scary. Furthermore, please educate yourself with actual historical information and not what comes out of Hollywood.

To compare the U.S. soldiers to soldiers of the Nazi regime and compare this war and it’s results to the liberation of the world from the brutalities of Hitler are the signs that you need to change whatever it is that you are smoking.

Would you have disapproved Hitler’s actions and objectives or would have actually directed the Jews to the acid showers and the ovens? Do you see our soldiers behaving in the same manners of the Nazi SS? Do you see our soldiers executing civilians on the spot because of their race, color of the skin and religious choices? If you do, please change your TV station. You are being affected by Hollywood and left-wing propaganda to brainwash you into thinking that Saddam was a loving leader of the Iraqi people.

I lost my childhood best friend to this evil person. There are still 5,000 Iranian soldiers missing and not accounted for after the 10-year war that Saddam waged on the Iranians for no valid apparent reason and killed 500,000 people. The Kurdish people, my father being one of them, have lost 180,000 people to this evil regime.

Iraq has lost well over 200,000 innocent lives to Saddam’s regime. I hope you got your calculator with you and adding these numbers up. How many lives does it take for you to say enough is enough? How many millions of Jews did it take for the world to say enough to Hitler? Does it even matter to you? The world of the good and moral people has had enough of this person and others like him.

Additionally, a president who places a huge emphasis on morals values and lives of innocent people is now managing the super-power country of this world. I’m with President Bush on this issue just like the world was against Hitler. What you don’t get sir is that the history can and will repeat itself if we choose not to change its course. Saddam’s regime was stopped before it became another Hitler story in your history books. Thanks to President Bush and coalition forces, you’re still here to bitch about everything little thing in your life. At least you have the freedom to do that.

Thanks be to God for his intervention in this war and answering our prayers for the least amount of civilian casualties.

One last thing, this is a war to liberate the Iraqi people and not to invade it. It is the French and not the Americans who are famous for invading countries around the world.
