A masked man robbed Cheers Liquor Store at gunpoint Sunday night, escaping before police arrived.
At 11:08 p.m., a lone man wearing a black ski mask, a black shirt, black gloves and blue jeans entered the liquor store, 7051 Monterey St., and demanded money from the clerk. No one else was in the store at the time of the robbery, police said. The clerk handed over an undisclosed amount of money. The suspect was last seen fleeing northbound on foot.
“There was no vehicle involved that we know of,” Sgt. Jim Gillio said.
Though the suspect was masked, he was described as a Hispanic male in his late teens or early 20s, standing 5 feet, 6 inches to 5 feet, 9 inches, and weighing 120 to 150 pounds, Gillio said.
Gillio would not say if the robbery was captured on tape by security cameras.
