Do you believe that teacher’s unions have a positive impact on
the education of students or a negative impact?
THIS WEEK’S WEB POLL:

Do you believe that teacher’s unions have a positive impact on the education of students or a negative impact?

positive: 3 negative 8

â–  Negative. What company can I work for that doesn’t evaluate my performance?

â–  Positive, as multiple educational studies have verified over the years. In general, where teacher unions are located, there are higher standards of living and tougher educational standards.

â–  Negative. Teacher’s unions (specifically the administrators) have little to do with student welfare and more to do with self promotion, often using student welfare to leverage their negotiations.

â–  Negative. With the school district budget constraints, the union focuses on getting teachers to believe there are funds for raises. Although raises are much deserved, the reality is that the funds aren’t sufficient to do this. It’s especially sad when there are threats of strikes. That has a huge negative impact on students.

â–  Negative. The unions’ primary interest is in their endurance (at all costs) and not the benefit of students.
