County residents are encouraged to attend workshops this week that provide an overview of county parks, the planned countywide trail system and future park expansion areas.
The Santa Clara Parks and Recreation Department is seeking public input to guide the county’s future in parkland acquisition efforts. The public will have an opportunity to help identify acquisition criteria and provide other ideas about parkland acquisition to county staff. Workshops will be held today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Mountain View City Hall council chambers, 500 Castro St. in Mountain View and Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Joseph George Middle School, 277 Mahoney Dr. in San Jose.
In 2006, Santa Clara County voters approved a park charter fund, ensuring funding through 2021 for acquisition, development, operation and maintenance of the county’s 46,000-acre, 29-park system, including Anderson Lake County Park and Uvas Canyon County Park. Fifteen percent of the funding is allocated specifically for land acquisition.
