Police arrested a Gilroy man for sexually assaulting a minor on multiple occasions.
Maziel Rodriguez, 42, was arraigned Wednesday on three felony counts of committing a lewd or lascivious act on a child by force and three felony counts of committing a lewd or lascivious act on a child under 14. The Santa Clara County Office of the District Attorney alleged that the acts began back in 2007, said DA spokeswoman Amy Cornell.
Police took Rodriguez into custody at the Gilroy Police Department about 4:30 p.m. Friday.
The victim, a 13-year-old girl, was a family member, said Gilroy Police Sgt. Chad Gallacinao. The Gilroy Police Department’s investigation into the incidents is ongoing, he said.
Rodriguez is being held at the Main Jail in San Jose without bail, according to a database maintained by the Department of Correction. He is scheduled to appear in court 1:30 p.m. Sept. 14 in Department 105 at the South County Courthouse in Morgan Hill for a plea hearing.
