Man arrested for alleged sexual assault on a minor
A man who sexually assaulted a 15-year-old female in a hot tub was arrested on suspicion of a variety of offenses, police said.
Morgan Hill police received a call Sept. 6 from a resident of Maple Leaf RV Park, 15200 Monterey Road, who reported the victim had been sexually assaulted, according to Sgt. Jerry Neumayer. The incident happened while the suspect and victim were sitting in a hot tub in the common area of the RV Park.
The victim and suspect, both residents of the RV Park, did not know each other prior to the incident, Neumayer said.
The suspect, Jose Hernandez, 29 of Morgan Hill, was arrested on suspicion of false imprisonment, annoying or molesting a child and other offenses, Neumayer said.
The Office of the Santa Clara County District Attorney charged Hernandez with sexual penetration by force, duress, menace or fear of bodily injury; false imprisonment and lewd or lascivious acts on a child. All three charges are felonies.
Student arrested with brass knuckles
A student at Live Oak High School was booked into a juvenile detention center after brass knuckles were found in his backpack, police said.
The 16-year-old student was caught smoking cigarettes on the campus at 1505 East Main Ave., with a group of other male students, Morgan Hill Police Sgt. Jerry Neumayer said.
School officials escorted the teens to the office, where their backpacks were inspected, Neumayer said. Inside one student’s backpack were found cigarettes and brass knuckles, an illegal weapon.
The student, whose name police did not release, was arrested on suspicion of possession of an illegal weapon, and booked into Santa Clara County Juvenile Hall.
Police do not think the incident was gang-related, and did not know if he was planning to use the weapon against another person.
