Morgan Hill – A suspect in two statewide murders was arrested Wednesday in Morgan Hill after his girlfriend called police.
Juan Carlos Victoria, 36, of Sacramento, was arrested without incident a short time later while on foot at nearby Cochrane and Half roads. He is a suspect in at least two murders, one in San Jose the other in Sacramento. Morgan Hill Lt. Joe Sampson said in a press release that information was obtained that may link Victoria to other homicides in different jurisdictions.
The woman, who was not identified, called police at 9:42am, reporting that she had been assaulted by Victoria in the Toyon picnic area of Anderson Dam Park east of the city, Morgan Hill Police Lt. Joe Sampson said Thursday.
Police described the woman, who had suffered a minor injury to her cheek, as hysterical. She did not seek medical treatment.
When officers arrived, she told them she had been abducted after witnessing Victoria kill a Sacramento resident, Sampson said.
Sacramento police Thursday afternoon refused to offer any details of the killing, citing an ongoing investigation. San Jose police spokeswoman Gina Tepoorten referred all comment to Sacramento authorities.
The woman had waited for two or three hours after Victoria left her at the park before calling police.
“She knew he would be prosecuted and may be going a way for a long time,” Sampson said.” She may have had to do a little soul searching.”
Victoria was booked on suspicion of murder and several warrants from other agencies on unrelated charges. He was transferred to Sacramento Thursday afternoon.
Sacramento and San Jose police detectives interviewed Victoria and the woman in Morgan Hill Wednesday night.
Sampson said Victoria formerly lived in Morgan Hill and the San Jose area before he moved to Sacramento.
Victoria also is investigated in connection with a San Jose killing, Sampson said.
