Investigators have classified the death of a 56-year-old Gilroy man early Monday morning as ‘suspicious,’ according to Gilroy Police Department Sgt. Pedro Espinoza.
Police are withholding the man’s identity pending notification of next of kin while detectives gather facts surrounding his death and await the results of an autopsy.
After receiving a call about loud noise just before 3 a.m. Feb. 16, officers arrived at a home on the 1400 block of Bay Tree Drive in northwest Gilroy. They found the man lying unconscious. Though emergency medical personnel with the Gilroy Fire Department tried to save his life, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The investigation is on going and investigators are conducting interviews, gathering information and pursuing a leads, Espinoza said.
