Gavilan recorded its fourth straight win and only needed one run to do so.
Erik Barron hit an RBI single in the top of the third to score John Forestieri which lifted the Rams to a 1-0 win at San Francisco City Tuesday.
Forestieri reached on a walk and advanced on a wild pitch before scoring.
It was one of the few opportunities Gavilan had as pitchers on both sides made quick work of the batters.
Starting Rams pitcher Gabe Katich was lights out for seven innings, allowing only two hits and a walk while striking out four. SFC’s Jacob Taylor was equally impressive as he struck out six batter and allowed four hits and three walks through eight innings.
Matt Oxner picked up his first save of the year and struck out all three batters he faced in the bottom of the ninth.
The Rams almost added an insurance run in the top of the seventh when Rex Lagman came in to pinch run for Nate Christopherson. Lagman advanced to third on back-to-back ground outs, but was stranded there as Brendan Wilson popped up to end the inning.
Gavilan (4-1) will host Mendocino College at 2 p.m. Friday.
