Five of Gilroy’s top academic performing seniors got a special treat on March 21 as they earned scholarships to attend the “7 on 7 Training Academy”, which is hosted by coach Sherman Croft. The camp was held at Cabrillo College in Aptos.
The Mustangs’ newly appointed head coach, Jubenal Rodriguez, said seniors Azriel Avila, David Munoz, David Haller, Will Soares and David Garzon have exemplified the core values of his program: commitment, consistency and sacrifice.
“(They) have not only committed to Gilroy’s 6 a.m. offseason program with the rest of their teammates, but they have become role models in the classroom as well,” Rodriguez said.
These five Mustangs have maintained a 3.5 grade point average and have been consistent with their attendance to the 6 a.m. practices.
