Who is in charge of the watering grass along Camino Arroyo between 6th and Leavesley? The sprinklers are set so high that the sidewalks and road are being watered.
Red Phone:
Red Phone is stumped, good caller, because Red Phone has tried to deduce where this sprinkler is located from the limited information you provided. At first glance, Red Phone assumed that you meant Camino Arroyo. However, Red Phone’s phenomenal map skills has led to the conclusion that perhaps the road in question is Camino Circle, which pretty much goes from 6th St. to Leavesley Road.
Red Phone contacted Gilroy Parks and Recreation Department Supervisor, Bill Headley, to ask if the city is responsible for watering grass on Camino Circle and Camino Arroyo. Headyley said, “The developers installed the sprinklers, and there are contractors that maintain them and adjust the controllers. The building owners hire the contractors. The city does not maintain these sprinkling systems.” He suggested contacting the Gilroy Outlets Management to see if they can help since they have many buildings along these streets.
Red Phone called the Gilroy Outlets Operations Director, Gene Delpilar. He said that they have a landscaper who checks their sprinklers periodically. He said, “The sprinklers are not overwatering the grass, and there is about 1500 feet of landscaping that they water. However, the length of Camino Circle is much, much longer than the extent of our property.”
So, good caller, your admirable quest to reduce water waste in times of drought will have to wait until you, or someone else, provides the location of the errant sprinkler.
