I am an ice cream connoisseur and have found the best ice cream in Gilroy. The best ice cream can be found at Sweet Retreat which is in the shopping area on 10th and Chestnut streets. I have been going there for a couple of years and was sad to find a couple months ago that they had closed.
I was very happy to find out they had reopened with new owners. It is better than ever and the owner is the nicest person. Their ice cream is the best tasting I have ever had in my 48 years.
My favorites are cookie dough and peanut butter/chocolate (or vise versa). The cookie dough ice cream is very sweet, smooth and creamy with delicious dough. The peanut butter and chocolate is the best if you love this combination. This is a family run store that I think Gilroy should support.
