Dear Editor,
I am a former student of Mrs. Joanne Lewis. I have heard about
Mrs.Lewis’ situation involving a poem that was read by her to her
class. I feel it had no big effect on any student
– students already know about sex, and the poem was just a
joke.
Dear Editor,

I am a former student of Mrs. Joanne Lewis. I have heard about Mrs.Lewis’ situation involving a poem that was read by her to her class. I feel it had no big effect on any student – students already know about sex, and the poem was just a joke.

During my year in her class, she has told the class that she never reads anything offensive involving race or gender.I know she did not mean to hurt anyone in any way. She was just reading a joke to lighten the mood of the class. To some its like hearing another joke on TV. I have heard the poem and was not offended – I laughed like any other student.

Mrs. Lewis is an excellent teacher, very skilled in making learning more interesting. I know other students that have had her class feel the same way as I do – she should not be dismissed from teaching at Brownell. She is a good asset to the school and to students.
