Dear Editor,
I sure am glad Bob Winter feels so ecumenical about sharing public facilities with religious groups and allowing single faith praying in school. I wonder if he will be so happy when a group of Wiccans want to use the athletic field for a summer solstice ritual. I would love to be a fly on the wall at Bob’s when he reads about a Muslim mullah wanting to use the city-owned Old City Hall tower downtown five times a day for prayer for the local Muslim community.
No, I think Bob is happy because it is his own religion that is getting the benefit in this case. But you don’t get to have it both ways. If you want to open the schools up for this type use you will have to let the Satanists have access as well. Assuming they can do it without splattering blood around.
I don’t like Nazis marching in the parks but I like freedom of speech. How will we deal with every idiot who starts his own religion wanting in on the campus. I like it better when no one has to listen to anyone else’s religious views at school.
