Garcia nets game-high 36 points in 67-63 victory
GILROY – Triple Threat edged Gaeta’s Taqueria 67-63 Tuesday in a key Men’s C League adult basketball program contest at Solorsano Gymnasium.

The loss left Gaeta’s, the first-half champion, with a 3-1 mark, just one game ahead of FFC and Headstart. Gaeta’s will play FFC Tuesday at 7 p.m., then test Headstart at 7 p.m. on Tuesday Feb. 10.

Jacob Garcia anchored the Triple Threat offense by tossing in nine field goals in each half for a 36-point showing. Kurt Gitmed added 13 points to the Triple Threat attack. Gaeta’s countered with a 32-point offering from Mark Cisneros, 20 points, including four three-pointers, from Juan Rios.

Neil Garrett poured in 28 points as FFC pulled even with Headstart at 2-2 with a 90-43 victory. Shawn Hennessy scored 17 points, Darwin Collins 13 and Joey Costa 12 for the winners. Shannon Farington netted 17 points, Bill Christopher and Greg Bozzo 11 apiece for Headstart, the Men’s D first-half champion.

Shawn Teacher scored 28 points Thursday as Beale Properties trimmed Gilroy Young Plants 61-57 in Men’s D League play.

Brit Bigelow drained four 3-pointers in an 18-point evening as Beale remained in a tie for first place at 3-1. Matt McIntyre provided 14 points, Bill Haughney and Manny Burns 11 apiece for Gilroy Young Plants, the first-half Men’s E chammpion.

Pizza N Stuff is 3-1 with a 61-49 nod over Cordevalle. Donte Fullard led the Pizza N Stuff charge with 23 points. Miguel Gilliard made three 3-pointers among 21 Pizza points. Daniel Crowe struck for 17 points, Brent Torres 15 and Chris Vigilante 12 for Cordevalle (2-2).

Above the Rim defeated the Sparks 37-35 to leave both teams at 3-1 atop the Women’s League Wednesday at Solorsano Gym.

Marta Solis hit two 3-pointers in the second half as the Rim rallied from a 14-11 deficit. Solis finished with 12 points, Heather Stewart 10 for the winners. Melanie Arner popped in 16 points for the Sparks.

Maxine Chavez scored 11 points, Maureen Hughes 10 as Williams Dental Lab improved to 2-2 with a 48-31 win over R.J. Dyer Real Property Investments. Wendy Filice-Strametz scored 14 points for R.J. Dyer.

Andres Espinosa scored 15 points Thursday as Pro Electric-Gavilan Honda-Rio Nio moved to 4-0 with a 57-33 decision over the Titans.

Danny Rodriguez provided 14 points, Mike Sandoval 12 for the winners. Mike Vanni dominated Titan scoring with 20 markers.

The Playaz are 3-1 after a 51-50 squeaker past the Sand Pit. Ed Gamboa scored 12 of his game-high 20 points in the second half as the Playaz broke from a 21-21 deadlock. Paul Garcia scored 13 Playaz points. Marco Lopez scored 16 points, Stepehn Quistian 11 and Edward Johnson 10 for the Sand Pit.
