Four-run seventh inning leads to 10-0 upset victory in Men’s D
action
GILROY – Trevino Brothers Construction rallied for four runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to upset RMC Engineering 10-9 in a key Men’s D League softball game Friday at Las Animas Park.
The loss tumbled the Engineers into a three-way tie for the first-half title. RMC Engineering will play Team HJ-FX at 7:40 p.m. on Friday June 11 at Christmas Hill Park, with Dequin’s Auto Body facing the winner at 8:50 for the pennant.
RMC took a 4-1 record and 9-6 lead into the seventh against the Builders. Trevino Brothers Construction responded with five singles to produce two runs and have the bases loaded with one out. Rudy Guevara’s grounder to second was missed, allowing the deciding runners to score.
Dan Crowe clubbed three hits and Tim Chiala added two hits and scored twice for the winners. Anthony Montez, Larry Montez Jr. and Albert Tamez hit home runs as RMC built a 6-2 lead after three frames.
Dequin’s joined RMC and Team HJ-FX at 4-2 with a 13-10 decision over Family Affair. Mike Boyle socked four hits and Duke Newton added two triples and a two-run single for Dequin’s. Manuel Gonzalez and Eric Gonzalez ripped Family Affair homers.
George Delgado and Greg Gilliam each singled and scored in the seventh inning to give Fritter-Schulz Physical Therapy-Humboldt Brewing a 15-14 nod over Ellite Barbers and Hair Stylists. Dave Keim Jr. homered in a 4-for-4 night for the winners. Aaron Muro and Greg Lucio each collected three hits and scored two Ellite runs.
Good Fellas and Obata Farms each completed the Men’s C League first half at 5-1 Friday to set up a playoff game Friday June 11 at 6:30 p.m. at Christmas Hill Park.
Manuel Juarez and Mike Chuck produced RBI-hits in the bottom of the sixth inning as Obata Farms rallied past Dee’z Nutz 6-5. Jason Livingston hit a three-run Obata home run. Sean Subia went 4-for-4 for Dee’z.
Ray Rojas went 3-for-3 with 2 RBI in a 5-1 Good Fellas win over Carreiro’s Plastering.
VFW Vets trimmed Punishment Inc. 6-5 to leave both teams at 3-3. John Ham of Punishment took game batting honors with three hits.
Krazy Koyote powered past the Martini’s 25-8 to earn the first-half Men’s DD League title Friday at Gavilan Sports Park.
A 13-run fifth inning erased an 8-6 Martini’s edge. Joey Garcia homered in doubled in the Krazy fifth inning. Garcia went 5-for-5 and K.C. Adams doubled, tripled and homered.
Cosa Nostra lost a share of first place by falling to the Bomb Squad 19-7. Ryan Bell and Eddie Adame sprayed four hits apiece and Joshua Gonzales homered for the Squad. Jose Serrano went 3-for-3 for 4-2 Cosa Nostra.
Los Chilotes scored 18 runs in the first inning and held on to defeat the Hustlers 18-13. Jesus Enriquez went 3-for-3 for the winners, Mike Nichols 3-for-3 for the Hustlers.
Blackout Window Tinting completed a 6-0 march through the Men’s EE League with a 16-15 edging of VFW Bingo Thursday at Las Animas Park. Alex Pena’s one-out RBI-hit producing the third and deciding run in the bottom of the seventh for Blackout. Pena finished 4-for-5, Nick Magee and Matt McKay each 3-for-4 for 4-2 VFW Bingo.
Ray Pizzuti homered and Troy Carson drove in four runs as Good Ole Boys defeated Bay Area Communications Loco Boys 11-6. Kurtis Salter and Isac Gonzalez hit consecutive homers for the Loco Boys.
Jerry Johnston went 3-for-3 and scored three runs as 1-5 Radiator Doctor trimmed Courtesy Chevrolet 10-9. Gilbert Cano and Jeff Ide each went 3-for-3 for Courtesy.
Campbell’s Towing took the first-half Men’s E title at 6-0 with a 15-6 victory over Team Heinzen Thursday at Christmas Hill Park. Ryan Ham went 4-for-4 and Brandon Straw (3-for-4) scored four runs for Campbell’s. Mark Logan went 4-for-4 for Team Heinzen.
St. Mary Men’s Club finished the half at 5-1 with a 10-4 win over Claddagh Brew Crew. Shawn Chizenskas went 3-for-4 for St. Mary. Walter Margetich singled and doubled for Claddagh.
Ryan Brindle’s two-run single in the eighth inning helped Solid Ground to a 17-14 win over the Titans. Jeff Rhodes lashed four Solid hits. David Hill went 4-for-4 and Vic Vanni scored four runs for the Titans.
