Martinez nets game-high 16, including two three-pointers, in
63-30 victory over Young Plants
GILROY – CordeValle claimed sole possession of first place in the Men’s D League’s second half Thursday with a 63-30 triumph over Gilroy Young Plants at Solorsano Gymnasium.

Mike Martinez and Bobby Martin each dropped in two three-point field goals as CordeValle moved to 2-0. Martinez led all scorers with 16 points. Brent Torres followed with 12 markers for the winners. Robert Silvia powered the Gilroy Young Plants offense with 13 points.

Eddie DeLeon exploded for 14 points Thursday to help 2-0 Playaz past the Titans 63-20 in Men’s E League play.

Ed Gamboa scored 11 points in the first half as the Playaz took a 39-5 lead. Paul Garcia added 11 points to the Playaz cause. John Ramirez hit two 3-pointers in an eight-point effort for the Titans.

Pro Electric-Gavilan Honda-Rio Nilo defeated the Sand Pit 78-35 to join the Playaz at 2-0. Alexis Rivas tossed in 25 points, Andres Espinosa 23 for the winners. Adolfo Mireles hit three 3-pointers in an 11-point showing for the Sand Pit.

Mark Cisneros scored 22 points Tuesday as Gaeta’s Taqueria trimmed FFC 62-60 in Men’s C League play.

Juan Galey scored 16 points and Richard Klauer 11 for the 2-0 Taqueria. Neil Garrett finished with 29 points, Chris Sandahl 10 for FFC.

Headstart joined Gaeta’s at 2-0 with a 55-47 nod over Triple Threat. Bob Lemmon hit three 3-pointers and 12 free throws in a 23-point effort for Headstart. Don Hall followed with 11 points. Sig Reynisson struck for 10 points for Triple Threat.

Melanie Arner poured in 20 points Wednesday as the Sparks outlasted Williams Dental Lab 45-23 in Women’s League play.

Lilia Flores provided nine points, Yesenia Flores eight for the 2-0 league leaders. Maxine Chavez collected eight points, Maureen Hughes seven for Williams Dental Lab.

Kim Candice and Katie Given each scored 11 points to help Above the Rim past R.J. Dyer Real Property Investments 46-16. Linde Francis scored 10 Rim points. Wendy Filice-Strametz scored six points for R.J. Dyer.
