Dear Editor,

I have been a resident of Gilroy for eight years. In those years, it has become very clear that the city council and mayor don’t care about the opinions of the citizens of Gilroy.

Actions speak louder than words. We go to City Council meetings to voice our concerns not to be dismissed. We don’t need an art center, especially at the expense of other people’s property (stealing). We also don’t need more big box homes on stamp-size lots. They shouldn’t be allowed to build homes on Miller Avenue against the wishes of neighborhood residents.

The city is allowing homes to built on every vacant piece of land – all at the same time. Great planning! Oh yeah, we also need a sports complex.

Here’s what we need. We need a City Council and mayor who listen to the citizens and actually does what we would like. Fix the sidewalks at the city’s expense.

Also stop spending money on unnecessary items for your meetings, i.e. $60,000 for a TV and $10,000 on leather chairs – get a grip. What’s next? Maybe a a snowmobile for the firestation? Thanks Jay Baksa.

Stop building homes – slow down! This City Council and mayor have the “San Jose Mayor Ron Gonzalez” syndrome.

It’s time for a major change! Vote and get them out. Recall those with time still left on their terms.

C. Rodrigues, Gilroy
