Patricia L. Murphy died at home with her family at her side on
April 29, 2004, after a brief illness. Mrs. Murphy was born in
Sioux City, Iowa 53 years ago.

She is survived by her loving husband, Dennis Murphy of Gilroy and four children.
Mrs. Murphy enjoyed working around her home where gardening and landscaping were her favorite pastimes. She also enjoyed cooking and traveling. She loved to follow all of her childrens’ and grandson’s sporting and school events. She was a member of the St. Mary Parish, Gilroy, and past volunteer with the Gilroy Little League. She was a staffing coordinator for Kaiser Permanente since 1997.
She was the devoted mother of Deana and her husband Michael Rivera of San Jose, Erin Murphy of Davis, and Jamie and Matthew Murphy, both of Gilroy. She is the grandmother of Christian Rivera of San Jose. Mrs. Murphy was the daughter of Jean Stenstrom and step-daughter of Elmer Stenstrom of Coon Rapids, Iowa. Also surviving her are her sisters, Alice and her husband Jerry Fuller of San Jose, Kay Fick of Gilroy, Ellen and her husband Jim Diehl of Fort Dodge, Iowa, Norma Heydon-Wrather of Cumberland, Maryland, Ann and her husband Jason Yeager of Denver, Colorado and brothers David and his wife Renette Heydon of Havre, Montana and Edward and his wife Cindy Heydon of Coon Rapids, Iowa. Mrs. Murphy is the aunt of 22 and great-aunt of 7. She was preceded in death by her father Willard Heydon, brother Stephen Heydon and brother-in-law Doug Fick.
A vigil will be held Monday, May 3, 2004, 7 p.m. at Habing Family Funeral Home, Gilroy.
Services will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 4, 2004, at the funeral home, then to St. Mary Church for a funeral Mass at 10 a.m. Visitation will be from 2 to 7 p.m., on Monday. Donations made to the St. Mary School Endowment Fund in her memory are preferred and appreciated.
