Gilroy – Henry Coe State Park will hold its annual “Tarantula Fest and Barbecue” on Saturday, Oct. 2, from 10am to 4pm.

Discover fascinating facts about tarantulas and their habitats with special guest Smokey the Bear.

Enjoy tarantula art projects, hold a snake or tarantula, have your picture taken with creepy creatures, try your hand at winning prizes during the benefit raffle and learn more about tarantulas from all over the world.

Nature walks will be held every hour between 10:30am and 2:30pm.

Live music will be provided by the famous Coe Park Tarantula Band.

A $5 parking fee per car will be charged, so carpooling is encouraged.

Barbecue lunch with all the fixings will be served from noon to 2pm.

Guests can choose between $12 steaks, $10 chickens, $7 veggie burgers or $5 hot dogs meal tickets.

Meal tickets are available in advance only – no tickets will be sold at the event.

Deadline to order meal tickets is Friday, Sept. 24.

Include a self-addressed stamped envelope or a request to have tickets held at will call.
