Jacob Garcia

Jacob Garcia, a senior at Christopher High School, is this week’s “Student of the Week.”
What inspires you?
I am inspired by my peers and the world around me. Every day brings me a new inspiration, whether it’s a water bottle in the field or the new episode of “American Idol,” I’ll always have inspiration.
Favorite subject:
Drama is my favorite subject because I can be a goofball and go all in and not worry about being laughed at. Also History because I love the story of our country and the world itself.
If you had the power to change one thing in the world:
If I had the power to change one thing in the world I would make zero pollution across the world. We would never litter or produce smog from our cars, trucks, or factories, and the world would be a better cleaner and overall more healthy environment.
If you could go anywhere:
If I could go anywhere I would go to a place with a different culture than mine. I’d travel to Europe, Asia, South America, and Africa to learn and experience their different cultures. I would travel the world!
One big challenge in your life right now:
A challenge in my life right now is saying “NO.” I have a hard time telling people “no” or that I can’t do something for them because I have something that is very important to me that I need to get done. It’s something I’m working on.
Dream job:
My dream job has always been to become an actor on Broadway or in the movies. Ever since I was a child and my grandparents took me to see “Chorus Line” I wanted to be a star. It’s funny because my great grandma has always calls me her “little movie star.” I think it’s because she forgets my name. Nevertheless, I still want to be one someday.
Your three favorite things:
My three favorite things would be raindrops on roses and…… Just kidding. I really love tapioca pudding, Dr. Pepper, and the round of applause I get after a well executed show.
Favorite book:
My favorite book has been “Tuesdays with Morrie” by Mitch Albom since the 7th grade. It was a reading ahead of my time but with each read I find something new to relate to. It’s a book about an old college professor who is dying of Lou Gehrig’s disease and an old college student who is learning how to live his life to the fullest.
Plans post high school:
After high school I intend on attending college in Southern Oregon or down in Southern California to earn my Bachelors of Fine Arts (BFA) in musical theatre. Then go for gold in New York. Gotta shoot for that Broadway life!
Something that makes you smile:
Something that makes me smile is when I can see that I have made a difference in someone else’s day.
Top three most played songs on your iTunes or iPod:
“Safe and Sound” by Capital Cities, “Bach’s Cello suite No.1” in G major, and “What Does the Fox Say?” by Ylvis (yes, still).
