Dear Red Phone,
“My concern is this use of wasteful money. Jeff Garcia built up the stadium at Gilroy High School, and a friend of mine, Don Christopher, decided to spend money at his school to build a facility identical to the one at GHS. They’re within 10 miles of each other, and the schedules would have allowed for Gilroy High to share with Christopher High School, but they want to spend millions. There ought to be a law. We spill money around like it’s water.”
Dear reader,
Don Christopher has made a clear commitment to the high school with his family’s name on it. It’s his decision to do what he wants with his money – he made it after all. So the law reference is not only puzzling, but troubling. What, there ought to be a law to tell successful people how they can spend their money, a law that restricts generous philanthropy? Red Phone doesn’t think so.
