Dear Editor:
A recent letter, in your pages, pointed out that one of your columnists may or may not be “award winning”.
In order to resolve this potential deficiency and to ensure that deserving Gilroyans get the proper recognition, as President of the Gilroy Native Sons’ Club (present membership: ONE) I am hereby instituting the Cartoon Character Fabricators and Straight Shooter Award that will be periodically bestowed upon a deserving recipient.
The first Cartoon Character Fabrication Award goes to that transplant from San Francisco, your Dennis the Menace columnist, whom we hereby dub Pepe la Phew.
We have our first authentic award winner, congratulations! More later.
