Two separate fires in western Morgan Hill caused power outages and concerns to homes in the area of Watsonville Road and Santa Teresa Boulevard late Wednesday evening.

Power flickered all over the city around 10 p.m., and in some areas, went out all together as the fires raged, cause unknown, on the hillsides west of the city.

Fire officials were not available at posting time as they were still mopping up the scene,

Unofficial reports to the Times say a blown transformer in the area may have caught a tree on fire, which may in turn have started the two blazes.

Fire season is officially over in the South Bay area, but several wildfires continue to rage in the Los Angeles area, causing deaths and destruction in southern California.
