trouble determining the details of the alleged sex crime.
A 17-year-old female from San Jose reported Tuesday that “gang members” raped her at a Gilroy party Monday night, but police are having trouble determining the details of the alleged sex crime.
“At this point the victim does not wish to work with police to identify her attackers and would not provide us with any further information, including the location of the crime, the number of suspects and (their) descriptions,” Sgt. Jim Gillio wrote in a press release Thursday.
What police do know is that the victim and a friend called “a number of men” from Gilroy Monday seeking a ride to a party here that night. While in Gilroy – but not necessarily at the party – the victim said she was raped by men she described as “gang members,” according to police.
About 1 p.m. the next day, Gilroy detectives traveled to Valley Medical Center in San Jose after hearing that the 17-year-old showed up at the emergency room with a minor head injury and told hospital staff that she was raped the night before. At the hospital, detectives interviewed the victim and a possible witness, who also did not provide much information, according to police.
