“The injuries were severe, but they did not appear to be life threatening,” said Gilroy Police Sergeant Chad Gallacinao.

The assault occurred on the 7200 block of Monterey Road shortly after 7 p.m. When officers arrived on the scene all involved were gone. Shortly afterward, they received a report that one of the parties was at the Taco Bell at the on the corner of 10th and Chestnut streets.

Several police and sheriffs units responded and closed the drive-through for a short time. At least one adult male in his 20s was taken into custody for questioning, police said.

Police searched the bushes in front of Taco Bell looking for evidence, but it was unclear if anything was found. A mid-sized gray Honda Civic was towed from the parking lot for evidence.
