Hospital VP retires Friday
The Vice President of Marketing/Public Relations & Physician Recruitment at Saint Louise Regional Hospital, Vivian Smith, is retiring after five years at the hospital.
“Vivian has been an integral part of the SLRH family for over five years and will be sorely missed by all who have come to know her and work with her on various projects and initiatives,” said Chief Executive Officer Joanne Allen. Smith is the grandmother of two and will take the time to spend with her family. A resident of Milpitas, she has spent many years of her career in healthcare at Daughters of Charity hospitals, such as Saint Louise.
Smith’s last day is Friday.
Saint Louise opens new center
With the vision of being the center for health and healing in the community, Saint Louise Regional Hospital opened the Center for Wound Care and Hperbolic Medicine. The center is an outpatient, hospital-based program that works with the physicians in the community to treat chronic, problem wounds. For most people, cuts and scratches heal within days or weeks, but for those whose natural healing process is hampered, such as those with diabetes, a simple sore can become a complex problem.
“What is unique about the Saint Louise program is that the center will have two hyperbolic chambers that provide high concentrations of oxygen to the blood stream, which speeds up the healing process,” said Collen Monfross, program director.
The center will operate weekdays and participation requires a referral from a primary care physician.
