More than 100 dogs got clean Sunday afternoon during the first semi-annual fundraiser for the San Martin Animal Shelter.
The Downtown Dog Wash raised more than $1,100 for the shelter. The owners of the Downtown Dog Wash in cooperation with local veterinarians Dr. Dennis Harrigan and Dr. Greg Martinez and staff washed, dried and groomed some of Gilroy’s most loved pets. Enjoying an oatmeal shampoo or a warm blow dry, doggie tails were wagging by the end of their visit to the dog wash.
Jane Howard, co-owner of the Downtown Dog Wash, was all smiles as she visited with some of the dog owners and their dogs.
“Seeing the variety of dogs in line with their owners waiting for their wash and the support for the dogs and cats without homes warmed my heart.” Howard said. A second fundraiser for the shelter is in the planning stages for early fall.
