This weekend marks the 6th Annual Spring Fling field hockey tournament, being held on the Gilroy High campus.
“Our first year we only had four teams, this year we have 28,” Erin Gemar said. “We spread it out into two days this year for the first time.”
For players or fans of the game, the event will feature a clinic on both Saturday and Sunday at 10:30 a.m. before games begin at 11, lasting until about 4:30 p.m.
Saturday will feature teams made up of age groups 16-under, 14-under and nine-under and Sunday will showcase 19-under teams and an all-ages group.
Also, for parents with kids ages 8-11, USA Field Hockey will be sponsoring an event known as the Stick Stars program to develop younger players. Sign-ups will be available on both days.
