A 19-year-old woman believes she was raped early this morning, police said.

At 2:10 a.m., police responded to a call of a possible rape. The woman was walking barefoot and alone near Wayland Lane and Welburn Avenue when a Good Samaritan found her, police said.

The woman may have known her attacker, she told police during an interview. The woman met the man at a private party on the 800 block of Welburn, police said. The pair left the party together. She returned a short time later and thought she had been raped, police said.

The woman was examined by medical staff at Valley Medical Center and evidence was collected for testing by the county crime lab.

The investigation is ongoing. Parties with information may call Detective Mitch Madruga at 846-0350.
