Dear Editor,
For weeks now we have been watching a Kabuki dance about “controlling spending and reducing the deficit.”
Long impassioned speeches have been made from both sides of the aisle. Old people won’t get their Social Security checks, the military won’t get paid, we will default on our debt, etc., etc.
Battling bills from both houses have been proposed, battle lines have been drawn. Heroes and villains from both sides have spoken. Various plans are proposed and one has now been drafted.
In the end, not one penny will be cut from spending. None of the plans put forth from either side have actual cuts in them.
As a taxpayer I feel like I should get a kiss and a cigarette.
