Lucille Hudson
Our Mom passed away Saturday, July 30, 2011, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Throughout her life, she was a loving and devoted mother to her six children: Charles Hudson (Cathy), Charlene Sevcik (Richard), Pat Silacci-Behrens (Bob) Cecilia Harden, Daryl Hudson, Chester Hudson (Linda); and dearest grandmother to Derrick Hudson, Tim Hudson, Kevin Quant, Kim Neflen, Lisa MacDonald, Erik Silacci, Nicholas Yray III, Daryl Hudson, Jr., Jeffrey Hudson, Leslie Hudson, and great- grandmother to eleven plus one on the way.
She is survived by her sister Magalene Ray (Elvis) and brother Leelan Blackmon (Bertel) and many nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents Marvin C. Blackmon and Lora Blackmon of Falkville, Alabama, and her son-in-law, Mike Silacci.
Mom became a born-again Christian in her thirties, and was baptized at that time. In 1957, she moved her family from Alabama to California, the “land of opportunity”.
She attended and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Morgan Hill for many years.
Lucille worked as a checker at Nob Hill Foods and prior to that in their General Store before retiring in 1988. After her retirement, she remained friends with many co-workers and enjoyed getting together for visits and doing lunch, and continued that friendship over the years; but her greatest joy came when she was surrounded by her large family.
During her lengthy illness, it was her children who cared for her in her home. It was our way of honoring her, as she modeled that kind of love and the “spirit of giving” throughout our lives. We thank God for our Mother, who from an abundance of love lived her entire life sacrificially for her children. She was our hero! “And all of her children rise up and call her blessed.” Prov 31:28.
Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 A.M., Saturday, August 6, 2011, at Johnson’s Funeral Home, 17720 Monterey Street, Morgan Hill, CA.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to The Lord’s Table or City Team Ministries.
