One major fire occurred the evening of July 4 in Gilroy,
according to CalFire Battalion Chief Jim Crawford.
One major fire occurred the evening of July 4 in Gilroy, according to CalFire Battalion Chief Jim Crawford.

Multiple engines were dispatched from the Gilroy Fire Department, South Santa Clara County Fire District, CalFire and Santa Clara County Fire Department in response to a structure fire at 10:43 p.m. on 130 Bennet Ln., Crawford said. No one was injured and the GFD is still investigating the cause. Crawford estimated the fire took around 40 minutes to contain.

According to Crawford the four residents living at 130 Bennett Ln. were unaware their garage was ablaze until a neighbor rushed over to notify them. There is extensive damage inside the garage, as well as some damage to the house, Crawford said.
