Lion’s Club Meeting

Enjoy Wine and All That Jazz

Responsible Dog Ownership Days
Gilroy – As a licensed club of the American Kennel Club, the Gavilan Kennel Club invites the public to celebrate Responsible Dog Ownership Day from 9am to 3pm Saturday, at Christmas Hill Park. There will be a Meet the Breeds Fair and a host of activities for dogs and owners including a question-and-answer session with veterinarian, Dr. Pete Keesling. There will also be an all breed AKC conformation match that you may enter with your AKC registered purebred dog.

Free Community Health Day
Gilroy – Rebekah Children’s Services is hosting the 4th annual Gilroy Community Health Day from 11am to 3pm Saturday, at Rebekah Children’s Services, 290 IOOF Ave. Health screenings, medical advice and more. A Mexican Consulate representative will be there to provide information regarding retirement in Mexico, real estate in Mexico, dual citizenship, custom regulations and much more. The Gilroy Community Health Day Committee is comprised of local organizations and agencies that have come together to develop and accomplish a vision of providing health, wellness and disease prevention within our community by increasing awareness and access to health care resources.

Body Specimen at Gilroy Library
Gilroy – A real body specimen from the BODY WORLDS 2 & The Three Pound Gem: Gunther von Hagens’ Anatomical Exhibit of Real Human Bodies exhibition at The Tech Museum of Innovation will appear at the Gilroy Library on Saturday, to accompany a talk about health and wellness.
The free presentation at 2pm will feature Paul Hepfer, MS, Vice President of Programs for The Health Trust, speaking on “Inside Out: Learning about your body can be the first step towards improved health and wellness.”

Free Computer Workshops
Gilroy – Work2Future, Gilroy One-Stop and Gavilan College Contract Education will offer computer skills classes for Spanish speakers: Introduction to Computers and the Internet and Introduction to Word. Instruction will be in Spanish.

Auditions for ‘Swing Shift’
Gilroy – The Gilroy Community Services Department and John Bisceglie are conducting auditions for “Swing Shift.” Come be a part of this 1940s all singing, all swinging musical revue, performing at Gavilan College this January.
Auditions will be held Saturday, Oct. 20 at the Gilroy Senior Center, 7371 Hanna St. Ages 5 to 9 at 10am, 10 to 14 at noon and 15 through adult at 2pm.
