Gilroy firefighters lift a man onto a backboard on Luchessa Avenue near Chestnut Street Tuesday afternoon.
About 2pm Tuesday, the man drove off U.S. 101 south, then down the embankment hitting a parked car, owned by Cresco Equipment Rentals. He then spun around and hit a van owned by South Valley Care Homes Inc., that was carrying disabled residents. One passenger in the van hit their head on the seat and was taken to an area hospital. The driver was taken to an area hospital and was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.
