Gilroy mayor to head cities association
Gilroy Mayor Al Pinheiro will be the next president of the Santa Clara County Cities Association beginning Dec. 6. The association’s Board elected Pinheiro, who previously served as the group’s vice president and treasurer.
Pinheiro said the 17-year-old association has become increasingly important. “Regional impacts must be considered when dealing in many issues, traffic planning and mitigation being prime examples,” according to a press release written by Joe Kline, the city’s public information officer.
The Association gives an equal voice to each of the county’s fifteen cities, all of which appoint a city councilmen to and finance the body that meets monthly to improve regional commerce and monitor relevant state and federal legislation.
‘660’ task force members needed
The Gilroy City Council is forming a Task Force to provide input and guidance during the preparation of the East Gilroy Specific Plan. The EGSP will govern the future development of a 681-acre area located south and east of the existing Gilroy Premium Outlets. This area has also been called the “660.”
The task force will be made up of members of the Planning Commission and City Council as well as owners of property in, and neighboring, the area. Other members will include citizens and representatives from the Gilroy Unified School District, the Economic Development Corporation and from environmental and open space interest groups.

‘Scrooge! the Musical’ on stage
South Valley Civic Theatre presents “Scrooge! the Musical” Nov. 24, 30, Dec. 1, 7, 8, 14 and 15 at 8 p.m.; matinees Nov. 25, Dec. 2 and 9 at 2 p.m., all at the Morgan Hill Community Playhouse.

Fiesta benefits ADB violin program
The 4th annual Enchilada Fiesta will be held Nov. 30. Dinner will be served from 4 to 7 p.m. with a violin concert at 7 p.m. Take-out is available. Tickets are $6 for adults and $3 for children. Tickets are $7 at the door.
