LCPL Nathan Andrew Vasquez, of Hollister, recently returned from
serving in Iraq, where he served 7 months. Nathan served with the
1st Battalion 4th Marines, Weapons Co. from Camp Pendleton, where
he is stationed.

LCPL Nathan Andrew Vasquez, of Hollister, recently returned from serving in Iraq, where he served 7 months. Nathan served with the 1st Battalion 4th Marines, Weapons Co. from Camp Pendleton, where he is stationed.

He is the son of Juan and Linda Vasquez and brother of Anthony and Elyssa Vasquez of Hollister. Nathan is a 2002 graduate of San Benito High School.

Cody Cooper

Army Pvt. Cody B. Cooper has graduated from Basic Combat Training at Fort Knox, Ky.

During the nine-week training period, the trainee received instruction in drill and ceremony, weapons, rifle marksmanship and bayonet training, chemical warfare, field training and tactical exercises, armed and unarmed combat, military courtesy, military justice, physical fitness, first aid, and Army history, traditions, and core values.

Cooper is the son of Sharon Cooper-Macheel of Gilroy.

Francisco Carrillo

Army Pvt. Francisco J. Carrillo has graduated from the Ammunition Specialist Advanced Individual Training course at Redstone Arsenal, Huntsville, Ala.

The course is designed to train soldiers to assist in receipt, storage, issue, maintenance, modification, destruction, and demilitarization of conventional ammunition, munitions and explosive components according to technical and safety directives; perform ammunition supply stock control and accounting duties using automated and manual procedures, and operated material handling equipment to maneuver ammunition.

He is the son of Melecio Carrillo of Morgan Hill and Sandra A. Torres of Los Angeles.

The private is a 2006 graduate of Central High School, Morgan Hill.

Aleyah Monique Ruiz was born Nov. 11, 2007 at Hazel Hawkins Memorial Hospital in Hollister to parents Natalie Gutierrez and Eddie Ruiz of Hollister. She weighed 7 pounds, 14 ounces.
